ALFAMA NÁDIA is a one bedroom duplex apartment located on the first floor of a typical building and it comprises a lounge area with a comfortable double sofa bed, a toilet and a bathroom and kitchen. The apartment's location is extremely privileged, and is located less than 10 minutes walk from the Metro station Santa Apolonia (blue line). The city center – Praça do Comércio - is 10 minutes away on foot, a distance easily covered when it is to landscape the Alfama district. The Castelo de São Jorge one of Lisbon's most famous landmarks is also less than 10 minutes up the hill. Learn more about this authentic neighbourhood in the text bellow!
The Alfama Quarter is the oldest one in Lisbon, and it was founded by the Arabs who named it “Al-hama” (the fountains). It is difficult to believe that this humble neighbourhood was once the most desirable quarter of Lisbon. For the Moors, the tightly packed alleyways around the fortified castle comprised the whole city.
The buildings survived the 1755 earthquake and although there are no Moorish houses still standing, the quarter retains its kashbah-like-layout. The true charm of these quarters lies in its narrow steep streets ending in sunny squares from which there are stairways leading to typical streets and flowery alleys and fountains. This is where you can find the most genuine traditional commerce, far away from the big hypermarkets, with neighbourhood groceries, fruit stands, modest restaurants, and all purpose stores. The only way to get to know these quarters is to stroll through them. Embark on this adventure, let your intuition guide you and get lost in these streets and alleys to the sound of Fado.local.
Above Alfama the imposing, majestic and sober Castelo de São Jorge (Castle of Saint Jorge), crowns Lisbon´s most important eastern hill. This natural vantage point, was a defensive stronghold and royal palace until the end of the 16th century.
Other Attractions are a few steps away. You will need to climb just a few streets to find yourself in front of the Pantheon, or at the Flea Market (If you are interested in antique stuff and second hand bargains you can find almost everything at the Feira da Ladra flea Market every Saturday and Tuesday in Campo de Santa Clara). To eat there are quite a few cheap typical Portuguese tascas around, but if you are more into sophisticated stuff don´t miss the Bica do Sapato restaurant (co-owned by the actor John Malkovich), Lisbon´s hippest and trendiest restaurant, or the Faz Figura restaurant featuring Portuguese specialties and an impressive city and river views. Here, the visitor will be also close to the most recent and trendiest nightlife routes, beginning in the new Alfama fado parlours and ending up in Clube Ferroviário or at the famous and trendy Lux nightclub. The city center (Praça do Comércio) is about 10 minutes away on foot, a distance easily covered when it is to landscape the Alfama district. The owner/manager of the apartment will meet you at the agreed time. For this purpose you should contact him/her to tell the expected arrival time at the apartment. The owner/manager of the apartment should give you the keys and explain how the equipment in the apartment works.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The apartment will be ready and cleaned for you before your arrival. Fresh towels and sheets are also provided and all is included in the total price.
Litter bags must be left outside the apartment every night (except from Sunday to Monday) after 19:00, in the containers near the door. If there is no containers, please leave the litter bags at the street near the door (except the nights from Sunday to Monday)
Please bare in mind that you´ll be staying in a residential building. You´ll be expected to respect other residents in the building. Please observe that quiet is between 10 PM. And 10 AM. Any loud music or noise observed between these times may result in immediate eviction.
Pay attention to electric devices when leaving the apartment. Don´t let them turned on as well as lamps, lights, and candles. Also don´t forget windows openned on rainy days.

We liked the appartment very much. It was very nicely located with a magnificent view on the Tejo river (from the living) as well as the city (from the bedroom window). The furniture and beds were excellent. The host was very attentive by arranging our taxi to the airport at 4 a.m.
We stayed for five days. The appartment is located near the city with buss nearby. Not a good place if you are physically disabled. Nice terrace with a good view. The appartment is in older stand especially the kitchen. But the worst thing was that the beds bottom was broken and in a very poor condition. So it is a medium good apartment in our opinion.

We really enjoyed our stay in the very big appartment. Lots of space, especially the terrace was fantastic for us. The appartment was close to everything, easy to get to and from, and the city center i walking distance. Also our encounter with the owner son was a pleasent experience, warm and relaxed. Thumbs up.
Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und eingewiesen. Die Wohnung liegt sehr zentral und war uns ein gutes zu Hause für die Zeit in Lissabon.
Die Wohnung ist stadtnah, die Wohnung 2 Straßen von der Metro entfernt.
Es gibt einen Aufzug in den 3. Stock. Die Wände waren frisch gestrichen, die 2 Bäder funktionsfähig und gut. Es war frische Bettwäsche da, die Küche sauber und für einen Kurzurlaub ausreichend. Man konnte am Abend bequem am Küchentisch sitzen, außerdem gab es ein Wintergarten, der recht gemütlich war.
Jorge war zuständig für die Wohnung, es war möglich, das Gepäck zu hinterlegen bei der frühen Ankunft und vor dem Abflug. Insgesamt eine günstige und empfehlenswerte Adresse.
Die Sauberkeit kann insbesondere im Bad verbessert werden. Ansonsten Superlage und Ssuperausblick.
Boa localização. Casa bem decorada.
Die Wohnung ist ideal für große Gruppen oder Familien. Die Lage direkt an der Altstadt ist super, gut für Leute die die Stadt erkunden wollen. Die Küche und die beiden Bäder sind einfach aber sauber. Sollte es mal ein Problem geben ist der Verwalter gleich um die Ecke. Preis / Leistungsverhältnis ist wirklich gut.
